On February 14, Vice Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe of Makerere University called on Vice President TAMAKI Hisashi, the director of the Institute for Promoting International Partnerships.

The meeting was attended by Helen Nambalirwa Nkabala, the principal of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Makerere University, and UMEYA Kiyoshi, the dean of the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies at Kobe University.

During the meeting, Nawangwe gave an overview of the cooperation between Makerere University and Japan. He emphasized the importance of promoting intercultural understanding and expressed plans to further strengthen academic exchanges. He also mentioned that Makerere University is considering the establishment of a Japan Research Center. Tamaki expressed that strengthening relations with Africa is a key aspect of Kobe University’s international strategy.

It is hoped that this visit will further deepen exchanges between the two universities.
